Biography

Kamari Koonce is an associate in Baker McKenzie’s Global Transactional Practice Group.

While in law school, Kamari served as Editor-in-Chief of the Emory Corporate Governance and Accountability Review. Kamari also received a certificate of specialization in Transactional Law and Skills along with her Juris Doctor degree.

Practice Focus

Kamari contributes to complex transactional matters across domestic and cross-border M&A, supporting both buy-side and sell-side transactions for public and private companies. She conducts comprehensive due diligence reviews for acquisition targets spanning technology, software, life sciences, and industrials industries, helping identify key risks and opportunities that inform deal strategy.

Kamari also supports clients in the private equity space, with an emphasis on real estate fund formation. Her experience includes representing both sides of the fund relationship: assisting General Partners with the legal work involved in structuring, formation, and marketing new funds, as well as supporting regulatory and corporate governance matters. She also works with institutional investors and other limited partners, assisting in negotiating terms of their potential investments into private investment vehicles, particularly those targeting real estate, climate, energy, and industrial assets.

Representative Legal Matters

Since joining the Firm, Kamari has worked on the following selected matters, representing:

  • H. Lundbeck A/S, a global pharmaceutical company focused on treatments for brain diseases, in its acquisition of Longboard Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a company focused on developing medicines for neurological diseases, in a transaction valued at USD 2.6 billion in cash.
  • LumApps, a prominent leader in intranet platforms, on legal due diligence matters in connection with its merger agreement with Beekeeper, creating the first AI-powered Employee Hub with a combined valuation exceeding USD 1 billion, serving over 7 million users and generating approximately USD 150 million in recurring revenues.
