Biography

Roberto is an associate in the Dispute Resolution team based in London. Roberto has experience acting for parties in a broad range of commercial litigation, commercial arbitration and investment treaty arbitration.

Roberto joined Baker McKenzie as a Trainee Solicitor and qualified into the Dispute Resolution department. During his training contract, Roberto was seconded to the Baker McKenzie New York office. Prior to joining Baker McKenzie, Roberto completed the Bar Professional Training course and worked in the Legal Team at TikTok Information Technologies UK Limited.

Roberto has worked on various pro bono matters, including advocating on behalf of appellants in the Social Security and Child Support Tribunal, drafting a guide for Ukrainian refugees navigating the UK system, working on behalf of such charities as Amicus and Coram.

  • Acting for an investor in ICC arbitration proceedings against a state, following the failure of the development of an international port.
  • Advising a multinational oil and gas company on the merits of a potential arbitration against a state, following the complete termination of its operations.
  • Acting for a green energy investor in ICSID arbitration proceedings against a state following the state’s termination of a supply contract.
  • Acting for a global energy company in LCIA arbitration proceedings commenced by an African bank in relation to alleged breaches of an offtake agreement.
  • Acting for a sports data and technology company alleging breach of contract and anti-competitive practice by one of its competitors.
  • Advising an energy provider on its response to the UK's Government’s consultation on the energy price cap.
  • Advising a global streaming service provider on resisting default judgment.

Roberto has worked on various pro bono matters, including advocating on behalf of appellants in the Social Security and Child Support Tribunal (to appeal decisions by the Department of Work and Pensions to withdraw their benefit payments), drafting a guide for Ukrainian refugees navigating the UK system, working on behalf of the charity Amicus (which gives legal advice to individuals on death row in the USA) and Coram (which assists children in obtaining British citizenship).
