Biography

Christofer Isaksson is a senior member and counsel in the Firm’s Arbitration & Litigation Department in Stockholm. He joined Baker McKenzie in August 2010.

Prior to joining the Firm, Christofer served in multiple judicial capacities within the Swedish court system. From 2003 to 2007, he clerked at the District Court of Norrköping and subsequently served as a Junior Judge at the Göta Court of Appeal. He thereafter held appointments as Assistant Judge at the District Court of Örebro (2007–2009) and as Associate Judge of Appeal at the Göta Court of Appeal (2009–2010), where he adjudicated a broad range of civil and commercial matters.

In addition to representing clients in complex high value commercial disputes, Christofer also serves as an arbitrator. He has completed the SCC Institute and Swedish Arbitration Association Arbitrator Training Program (2019).

Practice Focus

Christofer focuses on arbitration and commercial litigation and regularly acts as counsel and co counsel before courts across Sweden, as well as in domestic and international arbitration proceedings under various sets of rules including SCC, ICC and AAA as well as ad hoc. He has particular experience in disputes involving contentious M&A, company law and commercial contract disputes. Christofer has tried three cases before the Swedish Supreme Court.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Represented global group of companies in arbitration, including emergency arbitration and anti-suit injunction against expropriated former subsidiary regarding licensing agreement to a value of USD 120 million and declaratory reliefs.
  • Represented international chemical company in Swedish seated arbitration under foreign law regarding price adjustments to an amount of more than USD 50 million and declaratory reliefs.
  • Represented major Swedish insurance company in arbitration regarding claims amounting to EUR 60 million.
  • Represented Nordic manufacturing company in post-M&A in international arbitration with an amount in dispute of USD 30 million.
  • Represented Swedish company in post-M&A in international arbitration with an amount in dispute of EUR 2 million.
  • Represented Swedish MedTech company in series of litigations regarding title to patents and trade secrets.
  • Represented global automotive company in international arbitration regarding EUR 5 million claim.
  • Represented bank in claw-back action before the Swedish courts.
  • Represented international medical company in international arbitration with an amount in dispute of EUR 5 million.
  • Represented re-insurer in litigation regarding claim of EUR 9 million.
