Biography

Issy is an associate in Baker McKenzie’s Dispute Resolution team, as well as a member of the Investigations, Compliance and Ethics group, and the Business Crime Unit, based in London. She has experience of criminal jury trials, as well as of commercial trials.

Issy's practice includes a broad spectrum of disputes, including commercial and criminal litigation and investigations, with a particular focus on both civil and criminal fraud.

Issy works on a number of pro bono matters, including advising a human rights charity on a constitutional challenge against legislation in two African jurisdictions, working with Amicus (a charity that gives legal advice to individuals on death row) and working with the charity Coram on assisting children with obtaining British citizenship.

Issy graduated from Oxford University in 2017 and completed her training at Baker McKenzie.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Acting for a former director of a company in the defence sector in criminal proceedings brought by the SFO in connection with allegations of overseas bribery of foreign public officials, involving a three-month jury trial.

  • Defending a bank in connection with a USD 5 billion civil fraud claim brought in the English and Abu Dhabi Global Markets courts.

  • Acting for an IT company and director in relation to a multi-claim dispute regarding alleged SPA warranty breaches, conspiracy and hacking.

Corporate Responsibility

Issy works on a number of pro bono matters, including advising a human rights charity on a pro bono basis regarding assistance with a constitutional challenge against legislation in two major African jurisdictions, working with Amicus (a charity that gives legal advice to individuals on death row in the USA) and assisting children in obtaining British citizenship through the charity Coram.

Issy was the coach of the England Debating Team from 2020 to 2023 and continues to be a trustee of the charity which runs the team, National Debate Team.
