Biography

Axel Eriksson is a member of Baker McKenzie’s Antitrust & Competition and International Commercial & Trade Practice Groups in Stockholm. He joined Baker McKenzie as an associate in 2023. Prior to joining the Firm, Axel practiced competition law as an associate at a highly specialised law firm in Stockholm. Axel has also completed a summer traineeship at the Swedish Competition Authority at the department for Mergers and Cartels.

Representative Legal Matters

Merger control and foreign investment

  • Advised a leading private equity firm in multiple acquisitions, successfully representing the client before the Swedish Competition Authority.
  • Advised FSN Capital in its acquisition of Dextry Group AB, a group of surface treatment providers, before the Swedish Competition Authority.
  • Advised Olink Holding AB (publ) in divestment to Thermo Fisher Scientific (worth USD 3.1 billion).
  • Advised on competition law matters on Erik Penser Bank's divestment to Carnegie.
  • Advised Cellnex Telecom, S.A. in its divestment of 49% interest stake to Stonepeak (worth EUR 730 million), in the mobile networks operation market.
  • Advised Mitsubishi HC Capital Inc. in its subscription of new shares in European Energy A/S, a European operator of offshore wind farms, before the Inspectorate for Strategic Products under the Swedish Foreign Direct Investment regime.

Investigations

  • Advised on and successfully defended a provider of e-mobility services against a suspected cartel infringement investigation before the Swedish Competition Authority.
  • Conducted due diligence investigations and compliance audits for multinational clients.

Antitrust compliance

  • Advised client, including drafting of practical guidelines and clean team agreements, on information exchange and general competition law issues ahead of strategic acquisition of competitor.
  • Advised multinational clients on multijurisdictional merger control and foreign direct investment analyses.
