Avni Devgan
Biography
Avni is an associate in the Corporate Finance practice in London, working across a range of corporate and securities transactions. Avni joined Baker McKenzie in March 2023 as a trainee solicitor, qualifying in March 2025, and has completed a secondment with the Transactional Practice Group at the Firm’s office in New York. Avni is a member of the London India Focus Group and is on the BakerWellbeing steering committee as well.
Practice Focus
Avni’s practice spans public and private M&A, and equity and debt capital markets transactions in both established and emerging markets. Avni also advises on corporate reorganisations and carve outs, and provides listed companies with corporate governance and regulatory compliance advice.
Representative Legal Matters
- Advised Apax Partners on the acquisition of Finastra’s Treasury and Capital Markets business unit.
- Advised a multinational energy company on the divestment of oil and gas assets through the sale of its operating subsidiary to a strategic buyer based in the Asia-Pacific region.
- Advised Walgreens Boots Alliance on the English law aspects of the carve-out and reorganization associated with its c.USD 23.7 billion acquisition by Sycamore Partners.
- Advised Coats Group plc on the ~GBP 250 million placing on the London Stock Exchange, the proceeds of which were used for the acquisition of OrthoLite Holdings LLC at an enterprise value of USD 770 million.
- Advised on the SGX listing of NTT DC REIT, a platform of six stabilised data center assets, in the US, Austria and Singapore.
- Acted for the syndicate of 10 underwriters on the multi-tranche USD 2.3 billion (equivalent) (upsized from USD 2 billion) SEC registered bond offering by certain subsidiaries of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Limited.
- Acted for Akbank on its inaugural Basel-III compliant Additional Tier-I (AT-1) issuance to international capital markets investors.
- Acted for Sika on a simultaneous divestment of its concrete admixtures business to Cinven and EUR 5.3 billion acquisition of MBCC Group froSm Lone Star.
- Acted for S&P Global on the sale of its engineering solutions business to KKR for USD 975 million.
