Biography

Klaudia Cholewa is an attorney-at-law in the Sustainability and Energy Transition (SET) team of Baker McKenzie's Warsaw office. She has several years of experience advising leading companies in the waste-to-energy sector at various stages of the investment process, as well as on many other energy projects.

Practice Focus

Klaudia is experienced in project development, environmental law and ESG. She provides assistance to clients in a number of areas, including the obtaining of environmental permits, waste management, emissions, water management and surface pollution. She also represents clients in court and administrative proceedings, and offers advice on ESG and sustainable reporting.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Advised an energy company on the decarbonization of a CHP plant.
  • Advised on the development of many waste-to-energy plants.
  • Advised a energy group on permitting related to an offshore wind project.
  • Advising the client's entire capital group, a leading manufacturer of fire protection systems, on ESG reporting under the CSRD Directive and ESRS, as well as the EU Taxonomy for 2024.
  • Advising the Polish entity which manages logistics operations of a multinational clothing company on environmental laws, and health and safety regulations.
  • Advising a subsidiary of a multinational steel manufacturing corporation which operates large steel mills in Poland on many environmental related issues.
  • Advising a manufacturer of construction equipment and mining equipment on the creation of a regulatory tracker for compliance.
  • Advising on permitting for many energy projects including renewables.
