Biography

Jim Charlton is an international tax consultant based in Baker McKenzie’s London office.

Prior to joining the Firm, he was an international tax partner at Deloitte and EY for approximately 20 years splitting his time between London and New York.

Practice Focus

Jim’s technical focus has consistently been on complex international tax matters particularly in relation to the interaction of US and UK / European tax law as well as the interaction of tax and financial services regulatory matters.

This has more recently involved assisting clients in efficiently managing changes prompted by the OECD’s Base Erosion and Profit Shifting project (including the prospective Pillar 2 provisions), analogous US tax law changes and managing restructuring prompted by the UK’s exit from the EU.

His sector focus is primarily financial services (banking and asset management) and fund structuring as well as advising on complex cross border matters for large multinational enterprises.
