Biography

Paula Andrea Camargo Torres graduated from Universidad Externado de Colombia, with a focus on labor law, social security law, and administrative law.

Paula completed her internship at the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation. She has participated, among other academic activities, in the theoretical-practical seminar on updates in labor and social security procedural law at Universidad del Rosario; the virtual seminar on the reform of the CPACA (Law 2080 of January 25, 2021) at Universidad Externado; the Labor Law Conference “Balance and Perspectives of Labor Law: Progress or Setbacks?” at Universidad Externado de Colombia; the IV Italo-Colombian Seminar on Private Law “Breach of Contract and the System of Remedies”; the II International Conference on Commercial Law “Competition, Consumer Protection, and Personal Data: Challenges for Business Activity”; the special course on identifying ideas and developing business plans; and the theoretical-practical course on labor cassation.

Practice Focus

Paul has experience in litigation and legal advisory in labor law, administrative labor law, and social security law, including proceedings before administrative entities and institutions within the social security system, management of civil and commercial contracts, and research on labor law concepts and frameworks.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Advising companies on the regularization of contracts and legal contingencies related to prior engagements through service contracts.
  • Providing training to companies on labor-related topics, such as disciplinary procedures, employment contracts, benefits, social security obligations, workplace coexistence committees, workplace harassment, among others.
  • Advising companies on regulations applicable to public employees, including the nature of the employment relationship, benefits, and compensation.
  • Advising new companies on contract types, labor relations, direct hiring, employer and employee obligations, disciplinary sanctions, contract termination, potential compensation for employees, and social security obligations.
  • Supporting companies and employees in proceedings before the Ministry of Labor, SENA, social security system entities, and the UGPP.
  • Conducting corporate audits of employee records and compliance with applicable labor regulations.
