Biography

Géry Bombeke is a partner in the Tax Practice Group of Baker McKenzie's Brussels office. He advises multinationals and Belgian companies on corporate income tax issues and international tax planning.

Practice Focus

Géry advises our clients on all kinds of corporate income tax issues, both international and domestic.

Géry's practice is focused on transfer pricing, in the field of which he assists clients with planning, implementation and documentation. He also regularly negotiates unilateral, bilateral and multilateral APAs and assists in transfer pricing audits and disputes, including mutual agreement procedures. Next to his transfer pricing practice, Géry provides tax advice regarding corporate restructurings such as mergers, de-mergers, etc.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Assisting Belgian headquartered automotive multinational in obtaining an excess profit ruling allowing residual profit to be sheltered from Belgian corporate income tax.

  • Assisting US multilevel distribution company in obtaining a bilateral APA between Switzerland and Belgium.

  • Advising a US pharmaceutical group with respect to the worldwide separation of a part of its business, including the obtaining of a Belgian tax ruling and assistance in accounting implementation of the separation in Belgium.

  • Advising the restructuring of a group of Belgian real estate companies.

  • Leading tax due diligence for a French leisure group with respect to the acquisition of four Belgian holiday parks.

  • Advising a Belgian finance company and cash pool leader on remuneration model and obtaining of Belgian tax ruling.
