Biography

Géry Bombeke is a partner in the Tax Practice Group of Baker McKenzie's Brussels office. He advises multinationals and Belgian companies on corporate income tax issues and international tax planning. 

Practice Focus

Mr. Bombeke focuses on financial tax and tax-related accounting issues in corporate and business restructurings as well as M&A, including real estate transactions. He is experienced in obtaining unilateral, bilateral and multilateral advanced pricing agreements (APA), as well as in corporate income tax compliance, transfer pricing disputes, acquisition structuring, tax due diligence and tax input on contractual documentation.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Assisting Belgian headquartered automotive multinational in obtaining an excess profit ruling allowing residual profit to be sheltered from Belgian corporate income tax.

  • Assisting US multilevel distribution company in obtaining a bilateral APA between Switzerland and Belgium.

  • Advising a US pharmaceutical group with respect to the worldwide separation of a part of its business, including the obtaining of a Belgian tax ruling and assistance in accounting implementation of the separation in Belgium.

  • Advising the restructuring of a group of Belgian real estate companies.

  • Leading tax due diligence for a French leisure group with respect to the acquisition of four Belgian holiday parks.

  • Advising a Belgian finance company and cash pool leader on remuneration model and obtaining of Belgian tax ruling.
