Biography

Marilyn is an associate in the Intellectual Property, Data and Technology Team based in Dubai. She joined Baker McKenzie as a trainee solicitor in London, and is admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales. Marilyn has completed secondments to Google and HSBC’s commercial legal teams, and relocated to the Dubai office in 2025.

Practice Focus

Marilyn's practice covers a range of data and technology issues, with a focus on digital regulation and data privacy. She has a particular interest in digital safety, new tech regulation and the intersection between privacy and new technologies.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Advising one of the world’s leading internet companies on law and regulatory policy in the Middle East and Africa, including support with regulators on emerging digital regulation.
  • Advising a number of multinational companies on compliance strategy with respect to the Saudi Arabia Personal Data Protection Law.
  • Advising various pharma/medtech companies on obligations with respect to health data transfers from the UAE/KSA.
  • Advising a number of new media, social and online platform clients in relation to content moderation issues.
  • Providing complex advice to a number of new media, social and online platform clients in relation to the DSA, Data Act and AI Act.
  • Advising on issues relating to AI governance, the training and deployment of AI models and the regulation of AI, particularly in relation to the intersection with obligations under the EU/UK GDPR.
