Peter Tomczak, Global Head of Baker McKenzie’s Investigations, Compliance and Ethics practice and a Partner in the Firm’s Chicago office, was featured in a Law.com Q&A discussing the Firm’s recent report, “Climate Litigation: From Compliance to Strategic Imperative”, produced in collaboration with the World Economic Forum.

As reflected in the summary of his interview, Peter discussed how climate litigation risk is playing out across jurisdictions and its unique US aspects. He highlighted the US landscape’s highly fragmented federalist system -- one with differing state-level approaches and ongoing legal challenges and uncertainty around fundamental issues such as jurisdiction and standing.

Peter also outlined the broad range of claims being brought, from private litigation and consumer protection matters to actions involving state attorneys general, which along with its unresolved legal questions has increased the volume of litigation.
