Artificial intelligence is opening extraordinary possibilities for the legal profession. In a new episode of the BBC’s Business Daily podcast, Baker McKenzie’s Chief Innovation Officer, Ben Allgrove, explores how AI could change the legal profession.

From multinational corporations navigating cross-border complexity to consumers seeking accessible legal support, the demand for cost-effective legal solutions will continue to rise.

Allgrove believes the transformation won’t mean fewer lawyers, but smarter structures and more impact.

“Leveraging AI will hopefully create a 1 + 1 = 3 equation - where technology helps us deliver legal services in smarter, more effective ways. But getting there will mean adjusting how we structure legal work in a more complex world.”, he says.

Graduate roles may shift, and the profession has yet to define what legal practice will look like in the next 3–5 years. But one thing is clear: the world is becoming more complex, and the need for legal insight is only growing.
