Hamish McCormack
Hamish McCormack joins Baker McKenzie as a partner in Melbourne, specialising in leveraged finance and special situations/liability management arrangements in the context of large-scale, complex financing transactions (particularly cross-border deals). Hamish spent much of his career working from leading law firms in the US, before returning to Australia.
Baker McKenzie’s National Managing Partner, Anne-Marie Allgrove stated: “Hamish offers our clients deep experience obtained whilst working on matters spanning the US, Asia Pacific, Europe and Africa. His leveraged and project finance experience coupled with acting on large, complex financings for M&A deals makes him the perfect fit for our banking and transactional practices. In addition, he also offers extensive trade and commodity finance experience in the Asia Pacific region. At a time of growth, we look forward to welcoming Hamish to our Firm.”
Hamish’s experience extends to structured capital raisings, take-privates, spinoffs, takeovers, recapitalisations, restructurings and other complex transactions, and he has acted on a diverse range of deals involving mainstream and alternative assets across the globe.
Hamish, when asked what attracted him to Baker McKenzie, stated: “My practice perfectly aligns with Baker McKenzie (BM), given its unparalleled global platform and enviable client base. I look forward to hitting the ground running, noting both the opportunity to be part of BM’s growth strategy and its collaborative, ‘one team’ approach to serving clients.”
Hamish further commented on the Firm’s market position which attracted him, noting: “BM’s Banking & Finance Practice helps structure and close pioneering financing transactions internationally, for a diverse client base. Whether it’s acting for specialist private credit, the world's leading financial institutions, or major multinational companies — BM is heavily involved in regional and global market leading transactions. All testament to the strength and capability of their 17 offices across major cities and financial centres in the Asia Pacific region.”
