Leading global law firm, Baker McKenzie, has hired investment funds specialist, Nick Benson, as a partner in its Private Equity team in London, further strengthening the Firm’s global transactional expertise and capabilities.
Nick joins the Firm from Latham & Watkins and brings with him over 25 years of experience advising sponsors and investors on the formation and operation of funds across the private capital spectrum, including GP-led and LP-led secondaries, fund sponsor transactions and customised investment mandates. Nick is regularly cited as a leading investment funds lawyer by Chambers, The Legal 500 and other independent publications.
Laurent Fessmann and Karl Egbert, Co-Chairs of the Firm’s Global Funds Group, commented: “Nick Benson is a fantastic addition to our private funds formation global practice and to our transactional practice group at large. We are all thrilled to collaborate with him. His impressive experience advising sponsors and investors in the private equity fund and secondaries space will enhance our ability to meet our clients' increasing needs for support with their complex, cross-border matters.”
The Firm’s London Managing Partner, Ed Poulton, added: "Nick's appointment after other recent hires in London demonstrates our commitment to growing our bench strength in the City to support our clients both in London and across our global network, allowing us to continue delivering a high-quality service for our clients, advising on their most complex transactions."
Nick commented: “I am excited by the opportunity to join Baker McKenzie’s market-leading, full-service platform and work with colleagues across its unmatched global network to build a distinctive and compelling offering for clients throughout the fund lifecycle.”
