Description
The Client Services Manager will support a high-performing group of partners to drive business generation. This includes managing relationships, targeting clients, planning business activities, and proactively pitching. The role holder will be an important part of the firm's Business Development team, focusing specifically on the group's business development activities. This includes project management, leading client initiatives, and driving client targeting efforts.
This role is hands-on and requires the person to provide proactive and reliable business development and marketing services to the group. They will monitor progress against planned priorities and deliver client meetings and follow-up activities. The role will require direct contact with clients and lawyers, including senior partners, and will involve collaborating with global, regional, and local colleagues to develop the group's client relationships.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the Group to deepen client relationships by ensuring exceptional service to clients
- Support the Group with day-to-day proactive BD activities and project management efforts of its initiatives
- Proactively drive the implementation of the Group's strategic client plans and associated tactical actions such as identifying opportunities, following up, and tracking ROI
- Develop a deep understanding of the Group's practice areas and client offerings to identify growth opportunities for the Group
- Coordinate and attend client meetings and visits, including developing agendas, identifying participants, recording key actions, and ensuring implementation
- Undertake client and market research and analysis as needed to identify and support relationship development opportunities, including research on Firm-specific information such as billings, matters, and relevant timekeepers
- Organize and lead client listening sessions for the Group
- Develop and maintain marketing collateral for the Group, where necessary, working closely with the PG BD team
- Develop and support the Group's proposals, including collecting relevant content such as practice descriptions and matter lists, working closely with the PG BD team, Client Managers, and Office BD teams
- Act as a key point of contact for the Group's client contacts and work collaboratively with the PG BD team, Client Managers, and Office BD teams
- Submit information to and gather information from the Firm's CRM system, BakerCI, to capture the Group's client activities and contacts to inform strategy and client outreach
- Work with the Group to develop their social media channels to promote the Firm and its practice, and track media mentions on behalf of the Group, in collaboration with the PG BD team, Client Managers, Office BD teams, and Communications
- Other duties as assigned to develop and drive the Group's business generation strategy
Skills and Experience:
- Undergraduate degree in Marketing and/or Communications preferred, or equivalent work experience
- Some marketing/sales experience in a large and dynamic organization, preferably in a professional services environment, and with partners/senior executives
- Strong judgment and ability to make well-reasoned independent decisions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong reporting skills
- Good understanding of strategic market communications and issues
- Comfortable working across multiple cultures and time zones in a matrix organization
- Self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills, including a pleasant nature, and demonstrated ability to work with a team and independently
- Strong organizational skills and demonstrated capacity to successfully manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Flexibility to travel frequently to meetings and events and work extended hours during peak training and meeting periods
- Familiarity with Internet and web-based platforms
- Strong computer skills (including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, or similar)
- High level of energy and persistence, and a good understanding of the importance of delivering exceptional service to clients
This position is bonus eligible and includes benefits such as medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) based on number of hours worked. The US base compensation for this position is expected to be $155,000-165,000 annually if located in an office in the city of New York. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
