Yada Yuwataepakorn
Biography
Yada Yuwataepakorn is a partner in the Dispute Resolution Practice Group at Baker McKenzie's Bangkok office. Since joining the Firm in 2012, she has played a pivotal role in numerous high-profile cases, with a strong focus on general commercial litigation, restructuring and insolvency, criminal proceedings and crisis management.
Yada is also a regular contributor to the legal community, frequently authoring articles and delivering presentations on restructuring and insolvency law.
Practice Focus
Yada's practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, project-related disputes, restructuring and insolvency, as well as legal implications arising from crisis and incidents in clients' businesses under civil, criminal and administrative law. Yada has represented and advised clients across diverse industry sectors, including energy, oil and gas, financial institutions, securities companies, hotels and multinational corporations.
Representative Legal Matters
- Represented Thailand’s national flag carrier in its business reorganization proceedings following financial distress during the COVID-19 pandemic. The engagement spanned all aspects of the client’s operations, including cross-border matters, and involved ongoing strategic legal support throughout the restructuring process.
- Represented petroleum refinery companies in managing legal implications arising from oil spill incidents off the Thai coast. The matter involved complex civil, criminal and administrative proceedings, as well as regulatory compliance and environmental risk mitigation.
- Represented a global energy company in responding to a critical offshore incident. The work included advising on crisis response, environmental impact assessment, regulatory engagement and risk mitigation strategies.
- Represented multiple securities companies in addressing legal implications of an industry-wide fraud incident involving impersonation and share manipulation. The matter included criminal and anti-money laundering proceedings and regulatory engagement with enforcement authorities.
- Represented a foreign industrial waste management provider in a first-of-its-kind criminal investigation involving radioactive contamination. The matter required coordination with nuclear regulatory authorities and strategic management of environmental and criminal exposure.
- Represented a listed power company in defending a high-value trade secrets claim brought by a former concessionaire. The dispute involved a foreign power and mining project, with the claimant seeking approximately USD 2.2 billion in revenue.
