Melchior van Altena
Biography
Melchior van Altena is an associate in the Amsterdam Indirect Tax practice group. He advises clients on VAT and other indirect tax matters. He joined Baker McKenzie in September 2023.
Practice Focus
Melchior advises multinational companies on a wide range of Dutch and international VAT and other indirect tax matters, including cross-border transactions, international supply chains, indirect tax compliance, and data reporting obligations. He has particular experience advising on global reporting regimes for digital platforms and online businesses. In addition, he advises clients with the VAT treatment of holding companies and input VAT recovery, and assists clients in tax disputes and proceedings before the Dutch tax authorities and courts.
