Biography

Zeinab Shohdy is a counsel at Helmy, Hamza & Partners, Baker McKenzie Cairo. She has extensive experience advising on corporate M&A as well as on banking and finance. She was recently recognized as “Up and Coming” lawyer in Chambers Global 2023 edition.

Zeinab received her LLB from English Language Studies Section, Cairo University in 2011. She also received her LLM in International Comparative Business Law, from IU Robert H. McKinney School of Law Indiana University in 2014. Zeinab was admitted to the Egyptian Bar of Association in 2011.

  • Advising the founders of Abu Auf and TCV on the divestment of their stakes in Abu Auf to Agthia Group.

  • Advising majority shareholders of Al Manara for Investment and Development which owns Merit University (Suhag), on their acquisition by Honoris Education Misr S.A.E, a member of Actis Fund.

  • Advising Gems Egypt for Education Services on the acquisition of majority stake in Egyptian Trillium for Developing Children’s Skills (Trillium) S.A.E.

  • Advising Egyptian American Enterprise Fund on its additional investment in Dawi Clinics.

  • Advising ECG Holding on the acquisition of majority stake in Source Beauty.

  • Advising Reliance Logistics on its acquisition of a minority stake in Catalyst Partners Holding.

  • Advising Intro Waste Management and Material Recovery Holding Ltd. in relation to its acquisition of 100% of the shares of Bariq for Techno and Advanced Industries S.A.E (a subsidiary of Raya Holding).

  • Advising Gems Egypt for Education Services on the acquisition o 100% of the shares of Hayah International Academy.

  • Advising Telecom Egypt in renegotiating and amending the shareholders agreement with Vodafone BV in relation to Vodafone Egypt for Telecommunications.

  • Advising Egypt Towers on their investment in relation to a new Egyptian tower company and their licensing.

  • Advising Telecom Egypt on the USD 90 Million acquisition of Middle East and North Africa Submarine Cable Systems Company S.A.E. (MENA Submarine Cable Systems).

  • Advising Mabaret El Asafra Hospitals in Alexandria on the sale of 49% to Tana Africa.

  • Advising TCV on their acquisition of a minority stake in Abu Auf.

  • Advising Egyptian American Enterprise Fund, Helios Investments and MENA LTV in their acquisition of Fawry.
