Biography

Clémence Rouma is an associate in the Dispute Resolution, Investigation & Arbitration Practice Group as well as in the International Trade & Commerce Practice Group, based in Brussels. She worked as a trainee in 2018 and joined the Firm as an associate in 2019. She was also seconded to the London office between April – September 2023.

Practice Focus

Clémence's practice consists mainly in assisting national and international clients in their contentious, both civil and criminal, matters before judicial courts and arbitral tribunals. She also advises clients in various legal aspects of business, commercial and insolvency as well as in the fields of agency, franchise, distribution and public procurement. Her practice encompasses contract drafting/negotiating and helping clients with questions regarding all aspects of IT/C, compliance, regulatory and e-commerce law.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Assisting leading worldwide courier shipping company in a cross-border VAT and customs criminal investigation led by the European Public Prosecutor Office.
  • Assisting an IT international company in a complex international dispute regarding the construction of one of its data centres in Belgium, including a EUR 500 million arbitration against former general contractor, several related arbitrations, litigations and/or pre-litigation against subcontractors and several summary proceedings before Belgian Courts with respect to contractual, financial/economic and torts/liabilities aspects.
  • Assisting several entities of a worldwide pharmaceutical group, active in the manufacturing, production and distribution of pharmaceutical substances and drugs in the frame of an international litigation against an Indian international pharmaceutical and chemical company.
  • Assisting an international firm in the frame of an cross-border investigation, involving jurisdiction in Europe and Africa.
  • Assisting an international industrial group with eight different claims with respect to the transfer of a branch of activity, including numerous equipment and real estate properties.
  • Assisting Solar Turbines (member of the Caterpillar group) in a highly technical cross-border dispute, involving hidden defects issues as well as an international expertise, regarding the construction and commissioning of three gas compression stations in Czech Republic.
