Biography

Clémence Rouma is an associate in the Dispute Resolution, Investigation & Arbitration Practice Group and the International Trade & Commerce (IT/C) Practice Group in Brussels office. She worked as a trainee in 2018 and joined the Firm as an associate in 2019. She was also seconded to the London office between April and September 2023.

Practice Focus

Clémence's practice mainly consists of assisting national and international clients in their contentious, both civil and criminal, matters before judicial courts and arbitral tribunals. She also advises clients in various legal aspects of business, commercial and insolvency, as well as in the fields of agency, franchise, distribution and public procurement. Her practice encompasses contract drafting/negotiating and helping clients with questions regarding all aspects of IT/C, compliance, regulatory and e-commerce law.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Assisting a leading worldwide courier shipping company in a cross-border VAT and customs criminal investigation led by the European Public Prosecutor's Office. 
  • Assisting an international IT company in a complex international dispute regarding the construction of one of its data centres in Belgium, including a more than EUR 500 million arbitration against a former general contractor, several related arbitrations, litigations and/or pre-litigations against subcontractors and several summary proceedings before Belgian courts with respect to contractual, financial/economic and torts/liabilities aspects.
  • Assisting several entities of a worldwide pharmaceutical group active in the manufacturing, production and distribution of pharmaceutical substances and drugs in an international litigation against an Indian international pharmaceutical and chemical company.
  • Assisting an international firm in a cross-border investigation, involving jurisdiction in Europe and Africa.
  • Assisting an international industrial group with eight different claims with respect to the transfer of a branch of activity, including numerous equipment and real estate properties.
  • Assisting international an industrial group, manufacturing machinery for the construction, mining and energy sectors, in a highly technical cross-border dispute, involving hidden defects issues and international expertise, regarding the construction and commissioning of three gas compression stations in the Czech Republic.
