Roma McCool
Biography
Roma McCool is an associate in the European Competition and Regulatory Affairs Practice Group in the Brussels office. She is a solicitor qualified in England and Wales, having initially trained in London, and joined the Brussels team in July 2023.
Prior to beginning her training contract in London, Roma worked in the Baker McKenzie Belfast Center from 2017 as a member of the Corporate Support team, working on large, multijurisdictional corporate matters.

Practice Focus
Roma advises on a range of EU and UK competition and antitrust matters. This includes antitrust compliance advice on vertical restrictions, horizontal competitor collaboration and abuse of dominance issues. Roma has experience in cartel and abuse of dominance investigations in both the EU and UK, and has assisted clients with responding to RFIs for market investigations.
In addition, Roma has experience in advising on EU and global merger control analysis, and subsequent filings, and is involved in the state aid practice in Brussels, advising on compliance of public support with EU state aid law and procedure.

- Advising a large media company in a dawn raid and follow-on investigation by the UK Competition and Markets Authority in respect of the production of broadcasting content.
- Advising a chemicals company in a cross--border investigation into industry-wide collaboration, following dawn raids in Europe, the UK, the US and Turkey.
- Advised a global fashion business in a cross-border investigation into industry-wide collaboration to pursue sustainability objectives.
- Advised a company in the financial sector on an abuse of dominance investigation including multiple rounds of RFIs, ultimately dropped by the European Commission.
- Advised a leading technology company in relation to investigations and sector-wide inquiries in various jurisdictions across the world, including responding to multiple rounds of RFIs.
- Advised a financial services company on multijurisdictional merger control and foreign direct investment filings for numerous jurisdictions.
