Biography

Karina Krzoska is an attorney-at-law in the Sustainability and Energy Transition (SET) team of Baker McKenzie's Warsaw office. She advises leading companies on energy and environmental issues, including sustainability-related projects and product-related projects.

Practice Focus

Karina is experienced in energy law, with an emphasis on the renewable energy sector. Her practice focuses on providing comprehensive legal support for the development of renewable energy projects, particularly in drafting agreements related to the development and transfer of RES projects. She has advised clients on compliance with both Polish and EU energy regulations, supported licensing procedures for electricity generation, distribution, and trading, and delivered legal opinions on regulatory developments and their implications for business operations.

  • Advising a leading provider of commercial real estate in Europe on the regulatory aspects of providing electricity to its tenants, while respecting their demand for renewable energy.
  • Advised on the development of few waste-to-energy plant.
  • Advised energy company on the decarbonisation of a CHP plant.
  • Advising one of the leading commercial real estate managers in Europe on the electricity price-cap regulation applicable in Poland.
  • Advising an energy company in a due diligence process of the two onshore windfarm projects.
  • Advised a large, domestic energy group on permitting related to an offshore wind project.
  • Provided comprehensive legal advisory in obtaining licences for electricity trading (for two foreign entities) and gas fuel trading (for one foreign entity), including preparation of the complete set of application documents and communication and coordination of the proceedings before the President of the Energy Regulatory Office.
  • Advised Aviva Investors, the global asset manager of Aviva plc, on the acquisition of a 51% majority shareholding in Connected Infrastructure Capital GmbH, a Hamburg based renewable energy developer specialising in wind energy projects across Central and Northern Europe.
  • Advised a leading Polish energy company on the purchase of a 35 MW PV farm from a major developer operating in the clean energy sector.
  • Advised an independent renewable energy producer on the execution of a corporate Power Purchase Agreement covering 1.7 TWh of electricity generated from renewable energy sources.
