Anna Krzanicka-Bombczyńska
Biography
Anna Krzanicka-Bombczyńska is Counsel and Head of the Restructuring and Insolvency Practice in Baker McKenzie's Warsaw office, with nearly 15 years of experience advising on complex financial distress situations. Before joining Baker McKenzie, she worked at other international law firms, giving her experience across restructuring boutiques, international firms and top-tier Polish practices. Anna writes regularly for leading insolvency journals and speaks frequently at industry conferences on restructuring and insolvency law in Poland.
Practice Focus
Anna advises on in-court and out-of-court restructurings, distressed M&A transactions, insolvency proceedings and bank resolution matters, with a particular focus on financial sector clients. She works regularly with financial institutions, insolvency practitioners and investors on high-profile restructuring and insolvency mandates in Poland. Her experience spans the transactional, regulatory and dispute-related dimensions of restructuring and insolvency work, giving her a broad view across both contentious and non-contentious matters in this area.
Representative Legal Matters
- Advised Podmiot Zarządzający Aktywami S.A., a vehicle wholly owned by the Polish Bank Guarantee Fund, being a key creditor, on the restructuring of VB Leasing entities, among the largest restructuring proceedings ever conducted in Poland, involving approximately PLN 9 billion of debt.
- Advised a consortium of BNP Paribas Bank Polska S.A. and Bank Pekao S.A. on a landmark EUR 160 million green-loan refinancing of the Mennica Towers office complex.
- Advised Energetický a průmyslový holding a.s., Braindour Development Limited and ResInvest Commodities PL S.A. in the restructuring and insolvency proceedings of Przedsiębiorstwo Górnicze Silesia, involving creditor claims exceeding PLN 1.6 billion.
- Advised companies from the EPH Group, one of Europe’s largest energy groups, on creditor protection, restructuring strategy, litigation and insolvency proceedings relating to the restructuring of an operating hard coal mine.
