Laura Kelly

Laura Kelly focuses her practice on complex commercial and products liability litigation and international arbitration. She has managed every stage of litigation and arbitration and has appeared before state and federal judges as well as domestic and international arbitration panels. Laura additionally has advised clients regarding their product safety obligations, prepared submissions for the Consumer Product Safety Commission, and acted as coordinating counsel managing various local counsel teams in global recalls and in multi-jurisdiction litigation.

• Defended private equity clients against claims for fraudulent and preferential transfer, debt recharacterization, equitable subordination, and breach of fiduciary duties.
• Represented member of limited liability company in dispute over membership interest, fiduciary duties of managing member, and possible dissolution of joint business under operating agreement.
• Represented speaker manufacturer in recall across 80+ countries, managing submissions to the Consumer Product Safety Commission and coordinating with local teams to make submissions to regulators around the world.
• Defended hair product distributor in products liability multi-district litigation and acted as national coordinating counsel for 800+ related state court and Canadian actions.
• Defended client in private securities litigation alleging Rule 10b-5 claim.
• Defended retailer in Illinois False Claims Act case concerning tax practices.
• Represented global and foreign clients in post-acquisition shareholder litigation.
• Defended lighting manufacturer in ICDR arbitration related to alleged product defects and breach of warranty.
• Represented clients in ICC, ICDR-AAA, and JAMS arbitrations related to contract disputes and related business torts.
