Biography
Practice Focus
Tim focuses his practice on financial restructuring, special situations, distressed M&A, creditor advisory, crisis management, financial reform and corporate governance. He has represented lenders, individual creditors, ad hoc groups, and other parties in a wide variety of restructuring cases, both in and out of court.
In addition to his focus on financial restructuring, Tim also has extensive experience in regulatory reform, and has counseled companies on strategies to ensure compliance with Federal Reserve Board and Office of the Comptroller of the Currency consent orders. He has litigated against the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Department of Education (ED) and multiple states attorney’s general.
Tim has extensive experience advising on the intersection of financial insolvency, digital assets and cybersecurity and has provided counsel on high-profile cryptocurrency bankruptcies with a focus on complex regulatory frameworks governing asset custody. He also has managed the legal and regulatory issues of cyber-incidents within restructuring cases, helping clients implement data governance strategies.

- Pacific Exploration and Production Corp. (debtors’ counsel for USD 6 billion international oil and gas exploration restructuring)
- Kings Food Markets (debtors’ counsel)
- Rotech Healthcare, Inc. (debtors’ counsel in USD 800 million restructuring)
- Enron Corporation (debtors’ counsel)
- Ames Department Stores (debtors’ counsel)
- G-I Holdings (debtors’ counsel)
- Regal Entertainment (debtors’ counsel)
- Represented the Statutory Creditors’ Committee in the chapter 11 cases of Genesis Healthcare, Zachry Holdings, Inc., Westinghouse Electric Company and MF Global with estimated liabilities of USD 7 billion
- Counsel to the Trustee in ITT Educational Services, Inc., one of the largest for-profit college restructuring cases
- Representation of a leading financial advisory firm in connection with a cyber incident affecting multiple restructuring matters
