Biography

Grace Gao is a registered foreign lawyer in Baker McKenzie's Hong Kong office and a member of the Firm's Intellectual Property & Technology Practice Group. She focuses on commercial transactions and technology advisory work across the broader TMT sector, with particular experience in telecom, cloud and data center projects, as well as digital media, content, data and other technology-driven commercial arrangements.

Practice Focus

Her experience includes telecom and cloud service procurement, upstream and downstream cloud arrangements, data center colocation, digital media and content-related matters, and other complex technology transactions, as well as the regulatory and commercial issues that arise when clients roll out technology-enabled products and services in multiple jurisdictions.

  • Advised Chinese companies on privacy, data and product compliance frameworks for global expansion, including regulatory risk assessment and implementation.
  • Advised major studios on content financing, licensing and exploitation arrangements across film, web content and gaming, including co-financing, talent arrangements, and other commercialization and monetization collaborations.
  • Advised major US studios on the development, production and distribution of co-productions, including the structuring of key commercial arrangements.
  • Advised a major US studio on the distribution, promotion and marketing of imported films in China, including local regulatory considerations.
