Biography

Ploy Chongcharoentanavat joined Baker McKenzie in 2012 and is a partner in the Dispute Resolution Practice Group of the Bangkok office. She concentrates on general commercial litigation and labor and employment matters, and is recognized for her adept handling of disputes involving labor unions. In addition to her legal practice, Ploy regularly conducts training sessions for clients and teaches labor law at a well-known university in Thailand.

Ploy was awarded Rising Star in Labor and Employment and Rising Star in Thailand by Rising Stars Awards Asia Pacific in 2021.

  • Represented Thailand's leading beverage and snack manufacturer to defend in a labor lawsuit initiated by the client's former employee seeking compensation for alleged unfair termination and the client's contribution to the provident fund.
  • Represented a major bank in its receipt of a Supreme Court judgment on a 30-year pension policy affecting almost all current and ex-employees, with exposure valued at USD 450 million.
  • Advised a prominent automobile corporation on labor issues and strategies with regard to labor protection and employment regulations.
  • Provided legal advice to a leading financial institution in investigations of allegations of harassment and internal procedures to be complied with, further leading to labor proceedings and a series of defamation cases.
  • Advised a national carrier on implementing cost-reduction measures and assisted with matters related to labor unions and planning the client's organization under the new corporate status.
  • Represented a major construction machinery company to defend against a claim for USD 22 million on the grounds of breach of contract and tort.
