Biography

Anthony Campione is a senior associate in Baker McKenzie's Tax Practice Group in Toronto. Prior to joining the Firm, Anthony practiced in the tax group of a large national law firm.

Anthony has completed all three levels of the In-Depth Tax Program and the Tax Law for Lawyers course. At law school, he was on the Dean's Honor List and the recipient of the Award in International Tax. Anthony is also a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA).

Practice Focus

Anthony's practice focuses on domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations and capital markets transactions. Anthony also assists with tax controversy matters.

Representative Legal Matters

Prior to joining Baker McKenzie, Anthony handled the following matters:

  • Advised Brookfield Infrastructure Partners LP in its CAD 13.5 billion acquisition of Inter Pipeline Ltd.
  • Advised Newcrest Mining Limited in its CAD 3.5 billion acquisition of Pretium Resources Inc.
  • Advised Karora Resources Inc. in its CAD 1.2 billion acquisition by Westgold Resources Limited.
  • Advised a Schedule I bank in its response to a requirement for information issued under section 231.2.
  • Advised a public company in a dispute regarding the central management and control of a foreign subsidiary.
