Biography

Zach Bassen is an associate in the New York office of Baker McKenzie and a member of the North American Transactional Practice Group.

Practice Focus

Zach practices primarily in the area of corporate law with a focus on mergers & acquisitions. He routinely advises clients across a wide range of industries on their most complex cross-border and domestic mergers and acquisitions, carve-outs, and joint ventures.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Advised ALDI on its acquisition of Southeastern Grocers, home of the Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket brands.
  • Advised Egis, a global leader in architecture, consulting, construction engineering, operations and mobility services, in its acquisition of US engineering leader H.W. Lochner, Inc.
  • Advised 65 Equity Partners, global investment firm backed by Temasek, on its minority investment in Kendra Scott Design, Inc., the celebrated lifestyle and accessories brand.
  • Advised private equity group Aurelius on (i) its acquisition of Dayco Propulsion Solutions, a global leader in the manufacture and sale of power transmission systems with eight worldwide production sites and (ii) its acquisition of Teijin Automotive Technologies North America, the leading provider of advanced composite technologies for the automotive, heavy truck, marine and recreational vehicle sectors, from its Japanese parent company Teijin Limited.
  • Advised Edelman Financial Engines LLC in connection with a series of strategic transactions, including the acquisitions of New England Pension Plan Systems, Hermann & Cooke and Cahill Wealth Management.
