Biography
Katarzyna Baranowska is a member of the Intellectual Property & Technology practice in Baker McKenzie’s Warsaw office, focusing on data protection and copyright matters. She advises clients on compliance with EU and Polish data protection regulations and supports a wide range of IP-related projects. Katarzyna graduated from the University of Łódź in 2020 and was admitted to the District Chamber of Legal Advisors in Łódź in 2024.
Practice Focus
Katarzyna's practice focuses on copyright law, in particular preparing and reviewing license and copyrights assignment agreements, protection of personal data including preparation of documentation in connection with the implementation of GDPR, as well as analysis and reporting of data security incidents. She is also advising clients on telecommunications, direct marketing and e-commerce regulations.

- Advised clients on a wide range of privacy-related matters, in particular concerning international data transfers, employee privacy, background checks and privacy implications of implementing new IT solutions.

- Advised clients from various industries (electronics, real estate, automotive, software etc.) on the implementation of GDPR requirements and prepared the necessary documentation such as policies, procedures, templates etc.
- Advised clients from various industries (e.g., automotive or retail) on telecommunication regulatory requirements.
- Advised a global intranet platform company on the intellectual property and data protection aspects of its acquisition of a software company group.
- Advised in the real estate transactions on the copyrights aspects of a building's designs.
- Advised a client on intellectual property and data protection matters in the acquisition of a major Polish company in the toys industry.
- Managed the anticounterfeit project and the customs recordals portfolio for a global technology company.
- Coordinated and managed the trademarks portfolios of global companies (e.g., from the pharmaceutical and clothing industries).
- Coordinated and managed the global trademark recordals projects for healthcare and cosmetics companies.
