Guillian Baclin
Biography
Guillian Baclin is a senior associate in the Energy & Infrastructure Practice Group in the Brussels office. He joined Baker McKenzie on 1 November 2025.
Guillian is highly experienced in delivering legal analyses and recommendations on investments in renewable energy, and in advising clients on regulatory and technical compliance and benchmarking of technical regulations, grid fees, taxes and grid access tariffs for battery storage projects, including urgent benchmarking against UK and other European TSOs.
Practice Focus
Guillian primarily advises on regulatory and contractual issues concerning the application of Belgian and European law in the electricity, gas, nuclear, hydrogen and renewable energy sector. This includes production, supply, storage, support scheme, responsibilities of network operators, public service obligations, particularly in social matters.
He has also acquired a highly developed expertise in capacity mechanisms, advising major actors on the Belgian CRM.
Of special note, Guillian has in-depth knowledge of contracts for BESS, wind, and solar projects, and has advised major actors on specific aspects related to support schemes for the production or use of renewable energy in Belgium. He has also adapted and reviewed specific finance contracts in relation to high-level mechanisms (such as green certificates reserve, energy credit agreements, etc.)
