Biography
Lip Kian is a principal in the Firm's Mergers and Acquisitions practice in Singapore.
Lip Kian represents international funds, multinational corporations and financial institutions in large cross-border private equity, venture capital, mergers and acquisitions, real estate and fund transactions. Aside from corporate transactional work, Lip Kian regularly counsels clients on general corporate, regulatory and compliance, shareholder and investor relations, and employment matters.
He is ranked as a leading individual for startups and emerging companies in Singapore in Chambers Asia-Pacific 2024 and recommended as a next generation partner for Corporate and M&A: Foreign Firms in Singapore in The Legal 500 Asia-Pacific 2024. He was also named a Rising Star Partner for M&A – Singapore by IFLR1000 2023.

- GLP Capital Partners in a venture to establish a new platform, GCP China Advanced Research Manufacturing Value-Add Partners, targeting industrial park investments with an advanced research/manufacturing focus in China’s core economic hubs and with an initial investment capacity exceeding USD 350 million.
- One of the world’s largest financial institutions and a sovereign fund in their venture investments in AwanTunai, an Indonesia-based fintech startup focused on developing the supply chain ecosystem in the FMCG industry.
- MUFG Innovation Partners Company Ltd. in its Series B investment in Lentra AI Private Limited, a cloud lending platform based in India.
- A sovereign wealth fund and a US life sciences venture capital fund in numerous venture investments in deep life sciences startups across a range of products and services including AI-driven drug discovery, cancer therapeutics, virology, and coronavirus vaccines.
- GLP Pte. Ltd. in the formation of RMB 4.5 billion (approximately USD 675 million) GLP China Value-Add Venture III with a group of leading international and domestic institutional investors to invest in GLP Park Lingang in Shanghai, the biggest and most advanced port-based logistics park in China.
- A development finance institution in its venture investment in a healthtech company, which operates a B2B marketplace for pharmaceuticals and medical products in Vietnam.
- A global leading asset manager in the secondary sale of limited partner interests in a China-based real estate fund to six institutional investors for a total purchase price of approximately USD 825 million.
- GLP China Logistics Fund I and its affiliates in the USD 5 billion recapitalization and exit of the portfolio developed within the fund, which was GLP’s flagship USD denominated develop-to-core fund formed in 2013 to invest in prime, institutional grade modern logistics assets in China.
- Beam Mobility Holdings Pte. Ltd., the leading micromobility company in the Asia Pacific, in its USD 26 million Series A financing from Sequoia Capital India, Hana Ventures, and other investors.
- A leading global real estate business in the restructuring of its financial services business (valued at approximately USD 400 million), and a leading real estate fund manager in the restructuring of its asset management business with AUM of over USD 50 billion.
- A global leading consumer products company in the formation of a joint venture with up to USD 105 million committed to develop an FMCG manufacturing and distribution business in Nigeria.
