Biography

For more than 25 years, Jürgen Schramke has been representing clients in technically and legally highly complex disputes in arbitration and state court litigation. With this background he is among the very experienced dispute lawyers in our German offices. He has lead large teams in both multi billion international arbitration as well as high profile litigation, including mass litigation, at German courts. Jürgen has special expertise in high volume construction, plant construction and infrastructure projects. In 2019 he was honored as "Arbitration Lawyer of the Year – Germany" by Lawyer Monthly and belongs to the lawyers who are recommended by various publication sin this area. 

Practice Focus

Jürgen has been focusing for many years on high volume construction, plant construction and infrastructure projects, especially in international arbitration. This includes disputes about nuclear and conventional power plants and in the renewables sector. Moreover, Jürgen represents clients in other technically complex disputes, for example in the automotive and the health care sector. Also, he is active in disputes in relation to real property. He has substantial experience in the organization and coordination of large teams in mass litigation and knows what is required for a successful dispute management in such constellations.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Represented a major global technology company in one of the largest ICC arbitrations about an infrastructure project in the energy sector (value of matter in dispute: more than 6 billion EUR).
  • Represented major multinational companies in high volume plant construction projects (including nuclear power plants).
  • Represented international construction group in a dispute about an offshore windfarm project (value of matter in dispute: more than 500 million EUR).
  • Represented a car manufacturer in mass litigation before stat courts including the coordination of a team of more than 20 attorneys.
  • Represented international real estate investors in construction and lease matters (including shopping centers).
  • Advised clients on investment disputes between states and foreign investors.
  • Advised and represented one of the largest German real estate companies in major urban development projects.
  • Advised and represented a major multinational logistics group in numerous real estate and construction matters.
  • Advised and represented a Swiss investment and portfolio management company against private investors in approximately 20 parallel court proceedings.
