Biography

Dr. Katharina Weiner is a member of the Firm’s Public Law Practice Group in the Dusseldorf office. Prior to joining Baker McKenzie in 2008, she worked for the European Commission's Public Procurement Law Unit and participated in the George Washington University Law School’s government contracts program in Washington DC. Katharina has been recognized for her work in public procurement law by Legal 500 and Who is Who Legal since 2014.

Practice Focus

Katharina focuses her practice on governmental regulation, with particular focus on national European and international public procurement law. She has considerable experience advising and representing companies and public authorities in tender and review procedures, especially in the areas of healthcare, public infrastructure and military procurement. Katharina also regularly advises clients in corporate reorganization matters in highly regulated sectors.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Represented several leading global pharmaceutical companies in tender and judicial review procedures concerning pharmaceuticals with total contract values of more than EUR20 billion.
  • Advised a European government on the implementation of Directive 2009/81/EC in the fields of defense and security.
  • Advised public authorities on the design and conception of complex procurements in the field of information technology.
  • Advised several clients on multi-jurisdictional transactions including complex corporate reorganizations worth more than EUR3 billion.
