Biography

Johanna Da Costa joined the Corporate Tax team at Baker McKenzie in Paris in 2014. She was appointed partner in July 2023 and she spent 6 months on secondment at the London office in 2024. 

Prior to joining Baker McKenzie, Johanna trained in internationally renowned law firms including Herbert Smith Freehills and has done a one-year internship in the tax department of Messier-Bugatti-Dowty, a Safran group member.

Practice Focus

Johanna advises leading international and French clients on domestic and international tax issues related to complex mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations and restructurings for multinational companies in various industries such as luxury goods, healthcare, media, digital content, and technology. She also assists clients with day-to-day technical corporate tax issues and tax audits.

She also focuses her practice on tax strategy and structuring, as well as tax M&A, including tax due diligence, negotiation of tax aspects of transaction documentation, and post-acquisition integration.

She is a member of the Institut des Avocats Conseils Fiscaux (IACF) and the International Bar Association (IBA).
