Biography
Prof. Dr. Michael Schmidl leads Baker McKenzie's German Data & Cyber team and chairs the DACH Commercial Practice. He has more than 20 years experience advising on high-stake and complex AI, cybersecurity and privacy matters. Michael has a particular industry focus on Healthcare & Life Sciences. He is an honorary professor at the University of Augsburg and a specialist lawyer for information technology law (Fachanwalt für IT-Recht).

Michael advises on contentious and non-contentious technology matters, including AI governance, data protection, cybersecurity, software, media and outsourcing. - Represents clients in major outsourcing and digital platform projects, including global IT outsourcing in the banking and insurance sectors, gaming, e-commerce and internet-based business models.
