Jaime Trujillo heads the Firm's Corporate Group in Bogotá with over 20 years experience in advising clients on M&A, private equity and infrastructure transactions. He joined the Firm as a law student in 1985 and became a partner in 1997. Mr. Trujillo has consistently been acknowledged as a leading individual in the corporate/M&A rankings of publications such as Chambers Global, Chambers Latin America, PLC Which Lawyer and bestlawyer.com. He is currently a member of Baker & McKenzie’s Global Financial Committee, its Latin American Regional Council and its M&A Steering Committee.
Practice Focus
Mr. Trujillo regularly works on mergers and acquisitions, private equity, project financing, infrastructure privatization — mostly for energy and telecommunication projects — in Colombia and other Latin American countries. His impressive track record includes advising the Colombian government in the privatization of power generation companies. Mr. Trujillo also advised on some of the largest M&A operations in Colombia during the last five years.

- Acted for Brookfield Asset Management in the creation of a Colombian infrastructure private equity fund.
- Acted for Enbridge International Inc. in the divestment of Enbridgs indirect 24.7 percent stake in Oleoducto Central S.A.
- Acted for Public Sector Pension Investment Board in its investment in a Colombian private equity fund (Fondo de Capital Privado Fondo Inmobiliario Colombia) that invests primarily in real estate assets.
- Acted for SHV Holdings N.V. in its acquisition of the 43.54 percent not yet owned stake in Makro Colombia, a cash and carry wholesaler in Colombia.
- Acted for BOC Holdings in the sale of its 73.95 percent stake in Gases Industriales de Colombia S.A. (Cryogas) to Indura S.A.
- Acted for Martinair Holland N.V. and other shareholders of Tampa Cargo S.A., a Colombian air cargo company, in the sale of the company to Avianca, the Colombian flagship carrier.
- Acted for Citigroup Global Markets in a series of total return swap transactions involving the acquisition of shares in Almacenes Exito.
- Acted for J.P. Morgan Securities Inc. in a private placement offering under Rule 144A and Regulation S of shares in Almacenes Éxito S.A. in the form of ADRs.
- Acted for Citigroup Global Markets Limited in a put and call option agreement with Citigroup over their combined 12 percent stake in Almacenes Exito and subsequent cash settled total return swap transaction with Casino Guichard-Perrachon.
