Biography

Lisa Weinert is a German-qualified lawyer working in Baker McKenzie's European Competition & Regulatory Affairs Practice Group in Brussels. Before joining Baker McKenzie in 2016, she worked at another international law firm in Brussels. Her qualification training (Referendariat) involved stages at the European Commission's DG Competition (energy mergers unit) and the German Federal Cartel Office (merger policy department).

Practice Focus

Experienced in antitrust and merger control, Lisa helps clients navigate the global regulatory landscape applicable to M&A transactions including merger control, foreign direct investment review and foreign subsidies regulation. She regularly advises on merger filings and procedures before the European Commission as well as the German Federal Cartel Office. Lisa’s day-to-day work also includes behavioral matters and investigations, competition law compliance and general EU regulatory aspects. Her practice covers a wide range of sectors, with a particular focus on heavy industries, manufacturing, energy, oil and gas, and digital markets.

Representative Legal Matters

  • European merger control and global regulatory coordination - Advised and represented a multinational conglomerate company in a merger control procedure before the European Commission, relating to the acquisition of the power grid business of one of the largest global players in this field. This matter also involved the coordination of various other merger control and foreign investment filings in more than 20 different jurisdictions worldwide.
  • European merger control and global regulatory coordination - Advised and represented a global diversified manufacturing, technology and services company in a merger control procedure before the European Commission, relating to the creation of a digital IoT joint venture with one of the biggest oil and gas companies. This matter also involved the coordination of various other filings in different jurisdictions worldwide, including China and Korea.
  • European merger control and global regulatory coordination - Multijurisdictional filing analyses and global regulatory coordination for various international clients operating on a multi-national basis, including the representation in merger control procedures before the European Commission.
  • German merger control - Advised and represented various clients on merger control procedures before the German Federal Cartel Office.
  • General advisory work - EU competition law - Advised various international clients on EU competition law and regulatory aspects, including restructurings, investigations, horizontal and vertical arrangements, distribution systems, etc.
  • General advisory work - German competition law - Advice on all aspects of German competition law including in particular trade association agreements, information exchanges, customer and supplier communications, etc.
