Biography

Jean-François Vandenberghe is a partner in the Real Estate and Construction Practice Group. He joined Baker McKenzie in 1994. Within Baker McKenzie, he leads the Real Estate Practice Group in Belgium and for the larger part of the EMEA region. He is also a member of the Environmental Law Practice Group and the Corporate Practice Group. Jean-François was also the managing partner of the Belgian offices from 2009 to 2016, and more recently ad-interim since end of January 2023 to end of March 2024.

Jean-François advises national and international clients on real estate transactions and their environmental aspects.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Represented IRET in the sale of four companies owning several office and parking buildings in Aalst to Baloise.

  • Represented Equity Estate in the refinancing and acquisition of a logistics portfolio in Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany.

  • Represented Pierre et Vacances in the acquisition of and disposal of Sunparks De Haan NV holding a park with over 500 cottages on the Belgian coast (including lease).

  • Represented GreenOak in the acquisition of a logistics company holding a multi-building logistics site from CBRE GI in the Flemish region, and on the acquisition of a logistics site in the Walloon region from AG Real Estate.

  • Represented Bayer in the transfer of part of a port concession to Ineos Europe in the Antwerp port.

  • Represented Swiss Life in the corporate disposal of a portfolio of 10 Belgian office properties.
