Biography

Harald van Dobbenburgh has a university background in tax law and economics of taxation. He practices mainly in the areas of Dutch and international tax law and is actively involved in the knowledge-sharing groups within the Firm’s pan-European network. Harald is also an active member in Baker McKenzie’s EMEA-Japan Initiative and has worked for quite some time in the offices of Baker McKenzie in Tokyo and Hong Kong.

Practice Focus

Harald focuses primarily on cross-border restructurings, investment structures and tax advice for multinationals. He has a great deal of experience in cross-border tax planning, design of investment and joint venture structures, mergers and acquisitions, APA/ATR-advice and acquisition financing.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Advised on the implementation of numerous Dutch holding structures, including relevant tax rulings.

  • Advised on the design and implementation of IP on-shoring restructuring of a large US multinational, including relevant tax rulings.

  • Litigated the first case in the Netherlands on the calculation of the excessive participation debt (Article 13l CITA).

  • Advised on multiple M&A deals, both from a corporate contracts and tax structuring perspective.

  • Advised on permanent establishment risks in numerous countries.
