Biography

Andrew is an Associate in the Baker McKenzie dispute resolution team in Sydney, focusing on competition and consumer law matters.

Andrew has previously advised clients on competition investigations, enforcement litigation and regulatory matters. He also assists clients with complex merger clearances and advises on consumer issues including misleading and deceptive conduct, consumer guarantees, advertising, unconscionable conduct and compliance with the Australian Consumer Law.

Andrew is passionate about the intersection between the law and technology, and maintains a contemporary understanding of developments taking place in this space.

Representative Legal Matters

Andrew has assisted on a number of matters and has experience working closely with clients, experts and counsel. His detailed understanding of technology-related developments enables him to quickly understand the complex issues which often arise in the matters which he assists.

Notable matters Andrew has assisted on include:

  • Assisted a multinational software company enforce its legal right to payment via a successful dispute resolution process involving negotiation and mediation.
  • Advised and prepared submissions for expert determination proceedings involving international engineering corporations on a large infrastructure project.
  • Assisted a national Buy-Now-Pay-Later (BNPL) finance provider assess their competitor’s competition-related infringements of misleading and deceptive conduct. 
  • Advised clients in respect of complex section 50 merger clearances and secured ACCC clearance as part of a broader global transaction. 
  • Advised clients in respect of ACCC investigations concerning alleged contraventions of the Australian competition and consumer laws (including misleading and deceptive conduct).

  • Refugee Advice and Casework Service (RACS) - Andrew is involved in the firms RACS program and has assisted persons in Afghanistan apply for humanitarian visas.
  • Global Rights for Women - Andrew is involved in the research and drafting of a jurisdictional guide to Australian domestic violence laws.
