Ed Poulton has been re-elected Managing Partner of Baker McKenzie's London office. His term is for three years, effective from 1 July 2024.

Ed, who was first elected to the role of London Office Managing Partner in July 2021, is a partner in Baker McKenzie's Dispute Resolution practice. He is a well-known name in the arbitration community.  As well as representing clients as counsel in commercial and investment treaty disputes, Ed regularly sits as an arbitrator. He is the consulting editor of a seminal text on the arbitration of M&A disputes. He previously chaired the steering committee for the Firm’s Global International Arbitration Practice Group, one of the largest and busiest arbitration practices in the world.

Ed joined the firm as a trainee in 2000, became a partner in 2010 and has been a member of the London Management Committee for the past 6 years. During the pandemic, he played a key role as a member of the Firm's Coronavirus Response Team and, more recently, led the London office's move to its new, more sustainable premises at 280 Bishopsgate in the City of London.

Commenting on his appointment, Ed Poulton said:

"I have had the great privilege of leading our London office since 2021, and I am humbled to have been re-elected to do so again. I am excited to continue to build the London and international offering of the leading global law firm. As before, I want to continue to make sure that our Firm offers the best experience to our clients and our people, and for future generations of both."

Alex Chadwick, Baker McKenzie's Chief Executive, EMEA, added:

"Over the past three years, I've been impressed by Ed's clear-sighted leadership and inclusive approach. He was at the forefront of the move to new premises in London last year – an important chapter in our largest office's story. At every stage, Ed championed the move with our people, listening to concerns and driving the positive changes that the move offered the Firm. His re-election is well-deserved."
