Global law firm Baker McKenzie has added experienced state and local tax (SALT) lawyer Kent Strader as Counsel in San Francisco, further expanding the Firm's tax capabilities in the state of California.

Kent is a highly regarded SALT lawyer with deep knowledge and experience resolving complex California income/franchise tax matters as well as technical tax rules. He also has significant experience with multistate tax controversies, tax planning, and pursuing refund opportunities. As a former leader within the National California tax practice group at a Big 4 accounting firm, Kent has worked with hundreds of multinational companies on tax issues in an array of industries.

Baker McKenzie's SALT group is among the largest of any law firm in the US. Kent is the newest addition to the SALT team, part of the Firm's market-leading Tax Practice. Kent follows the recent arrival of associates Jas Maan in San Francisco and Basile Manikas in Chicago.

Jas joined Baker McKenzie from another Big 4 firm, where she advised multinational companies on tax planning and controversies. Basile joins from another consulting firm where he advised clients on state and local tax issues related to a variety of transactions.

"We are thrilled to welcome Kent to our growing SALT team," said Maria Eberle, Partner in Baker McKenzie's North America Tax Practice Group and Chair of the SALT subpractice. "Demand is high for SALT expertise in California, given the complex and evolving tax landscape. The experience Kent brings will be immensely valuable for our clients navigating tax issues in California and beyond."

Baker McKenzie is one of the few law firms in the US offering a full range of SALT services. Located in key markets throughout the US, the Firm's SALT lawyers take a coordinated approach to representing national and multinational clients in complex state and local tax matters, working closely with other Global Baker Tax specialists to advise clients on all SALT aspects of transactions and disputes.
