Baker McKenzie has recruited transaction lawyer Katja Persson as a lateral partner. Katja has experience from law firms in both Stockholm and London, and adds bench-strength to the Firm's global M&A Practice Group. She joined Baker McKenzie's Stockholm office on 3 October.

"We are very happy that Katja has chosen to join our team. She is an experienced and skilled transaction lawyer with broad expertise and a focus on cross-border transactions. With a strong drive and experience from both Stockholm and London, Katja will be a good addition to our M&A team both locally and globally", says Costin Mihailescu, managing partner, Baker McKenzie Stockholm.

"It feels inspiring to go back to working at a law firm and join Baker McKenzie's leading M&A team. I look forward to getting to know new colleagues all over the world and assisting clients in both domestic and cross-border transactions", says Katja Persson, partner, Baker McKenzie.

Katja Persson joined from working in an in-house role as a corporate lawyer at a real estate start-up company, and before that, Trelleborg Group. She previously worked at law firms Freshfields, Linklaters and Hannes Snellman for a total of close to 10 years. For three years, Katja worked at law firms in London and was during this period also on secondment to a leading private equity investment firm. She graduated from Uppsala University (LLM) in 2011.

"Baker McKenzie has a strong market position in Sweden and across the globe. I am very much looking forward to becoming a part of the Firm's team and to continuing to develop the team's leading expertise in M&A in order to best meet our clients' needs", says Katja Persson.

Baker McKenzie has grown by over 50% in turnover in Sweden in the last five years. Globally, the Firm has been the legal adviser in more cross-border transactions than any other law firm for over a decade.

"We strive to both recruit and develop the best talents, and Katja is a clear example of that. The recruitment is also part of our strategy to continuously strengthen the expertise in our focus areas and further improve our offer to our clients", says Costin Mihailescu.
