We have a very nice atmosphere here
During my studies, I started working part time at Baker & McKenzie, both as a receptionist and librarian. One of the first things I sensed when I came here was a pleasant atmosphere in the office. I felt very welcome and soon became one of the team.
Since autumn 2011, I have been employed as an associate. And as I want to contribute to the good team spirit in the office, I am on the recreation committee. We arrange lots of fun activities, such as pubs, ski trips, bowling, boule, and more. I think a lot of people even find it fun to socialize privately. We had a great turnout for our last ski trip; over half the office went. I have no direct answer to why we have such good cohesion in the office, but it feels like we have a flat organizational structure, and that we can have fun together regardless of our position. There isn’t much social hierarchy here.
In general, my job is very social. It’s one of the reasons why I enjoy it so much. I was involved in client meetings and dealings early on. I get on well with my senior colleagues, which feels secure. But I have also had to face broader challenges: a while ago, I gave a lecture with one of our partners at Stockholm University.
Today, I work primarily with M&A. So far, I have no specialization; everything is interesting and exciting, and I find that I learn something new every day thanks largely to my knowledgeable colleagues.
