Reynaldo Vizcarra currently serves as a partner in the Firm’s Corporate and Transactional Practice Group and as the managing partner of the Mexico City office. He joined Baker & McKenzie’s Mexico City office in 1986, where he handled foreign investments, banking and finance matters and international agreements. Mr. Vizcarra also provided consulting services to companies in connection with public work biddings, contracts and acquisitions involving federal government agencies. He also worked in the Firm’s Latin America Practice Group in Chicago, where he advised on investment and acquisition projects in Latin America. In 2000, Mr. Vizcarra was appointed as one of the founding members of the Firm’s Guadalajara office, where he led the Banking & Finance Practice Group. In August 2005, Mr. Vizcarra transferred from Baker & McKenzie’s Cancun office, where he was a founding member and director, and mainly handled tourism and real estate projects.

Practice Focus

Mr. Vizcarra focuses his practice on corporate law matters, including mergers and acquisitions and the preparation, supervision and implementation of agreements. His practice also covers investment and infrastructure projects in the tourism and real estate sectors. Mr. Vizcarra’s extensive experience includes working on the privatization processes of ports, airports, as well as telecommunications and insurance companies. He has also served as adviser and board member to several multinational companies. In addition to his practice, Mr. Vizcarra regularly lectures on foreign investments in Mexico and various issues related to the Acquisitions, Leasing and Public Sector Services Law, privatization and bidding processes, among others.

Representative Legal Matters

  • Participated in the process involving the introduction and grant of concessions for mobile telephone services in Mexico.
  • Participated in Teléfonos de México’s privatization process.
  • Participated in the commencement and concession of instant lottery in Mexico.
  • Participated in the bidding process and granting of a concession for issuing voter’s registration cards throughout Mexico.
  • Participated in the acquisition of Seguros Bancomer, Comercial America and Seguros La Territorial.
  • Advised on the merger and acquisition of a property in Bahía de Petempich to develop the 446-room Silversands hotel.
  • Advised on the development of several tourism compounds located in Playa Mujeres and Puerto Cancun in the state of Quintana Roo.
