Representative Legal Matters
- Successfully obtained an interim injunction against copyright infringement of website material in the first internet infringement matter before the Malaysian courts
- Prepared, filed and obtained a Trade Description Order; coordinated and executed a criminal raid with law enforcement officers for trade mark infringement and passing off of shampoos; coordinated investigations and market surveys with private investigators
- Assisted a leading multinational company with the issuance of cease and desist letter to domain name hijacker and prepared, file and succeeded in a domain name dispute before WIPO
- Acting for global oil company is one of the first contested adjudication before the Communications and Multimedia Content Forum of Malaysia (CMCF) in respect of a broadcast advertisement.
- Representing the biotech arm of the government in its significant technology license and transfer to biotech sub-centres in Malaysia to spur growth in this area.
- Successfully obtained a permanent injunction against an infringer from using the name “DHL” as part of its corporate name.
- Acted for Clorox in respect of two television broadcasters’ complaints against Reckitt Benckiser. This is the second adjudicated advertising dispute which clarified the provision of the Content Code on comparative advertising in Malaysia.
