John Flaim leads the Firm's Global Intellectual Property Practice Group. His practice encompasses patent and trademark litigation, counseling, licensing and prosecution matters. He has significant experience in patent litigation infringement actions in federal district courts and before the US International Trade Commission.

Mr. Flaim's practice focuses on intellectual property litigation. He also handles patent and trademark litigation, counseling, licensing and prosecution. Mr. Flaim has significant experience representing multinational clients, as both plaintiffs and defendants, in multiple patent and trademark litigations in District Courts throughout the United States and before the International Trade Commission in Washington DC. Mr. Flaim has also prepared and prosecuted numerous patent applications for inventions in various technical disciplines before the US Patent and Trademark Office.

Representative Legal Matters

• Successfully defended client in a patent infringement action wherein the jury invalidated the patent on five distinct grounds.
• Represented a national cellular service provider in the successful defense of patent infringement actions brought in the District of Delaware and Northern District of California.
• Represented a French company in asserting a patent involving smart card technology, and a cigarette manufacturer in asserting trademarks against repatriaters of gray market goods, before the International Trade Commission.
• Represented a Taiwanese manufacturer of non-volatile memory in a patent infringement action brought in the Northern District of California, as well as a portable notebook manufacturer in a patent infringement action brought in the Southern District of California.
• Represents numerous entities in patent litigation actions in the Eastern District of Texas.
