Biography

Ariane Schaaf is a Counsel in the Indirect Tax practice of the Firm’s Frankfurt office. She works in the area of value added tax as an attorney-at-law since 2007. Prior to joining Baker McKenzie in 2011, she worked for KPMG as a member of the indirect tax services team for more than three years.

Practice Focus

Ariane advises national and international companies on all value added tax related matters, with special focus on M&A, real estate transactions, VAT-compliance and litigation. Her expertise includes the performance of tax due diligences, drafting and negotiating of VAT clauses for contracts, VAT structuring, drafting of expert opinions and applications for tax rulings, assistance in tax audits, handling of appeal procedures, fraud protection and voluntary self-disclosures etc.
