Baker McKenzie was named "ESG Firm of the Year" at The Asia Legal Awards 2023, which was held in Singapore on 30 March 2023. The awards is hosted by The Asian Lawyer and Law.com International, a leading global media platform, and it seeks to identify and honor the most important transactions and outstanding legal work in Asia.
Commenting on the Firm's win, Shih Yann Loo, Baker McKenzie's Asia Pacific Chair, said: "ESG has become a strategic priority for many businesses and also our Firm, and we have taken great strides in supporting our clients as they forge their Sustainability journey with our new innovative Sustainability service offering. It is extremely gratifying to see that our efforts and commitment are being recognized by our clients and our peers."
In addition to the Firm's award, two Finance & Projects Principals Kim Hock Ang and Kah Chin Chu from its Singapore member firm Baker McKenzie Wong & Leow were also named "Lawyer of the Year" for the Energy & Infrastructure and Banking & Finance categories, respectively.
Baker McKenzie and its member firms were also shortlisted for Firm of the Year (Banking & Finance, Securities, Litigation, Intellectual Property, International Arbitration and Fintech & Digital Assets), Deal of the Year (Cross-Border, Finance and ESG), Lawyer of the Year (Data Privacy, Private Client and Employment) as well as Asian Diversity Initiative of the Year.
